Donations being sought for Forest County Shop with a Cop

From staff reports

Plans are underway for the annual Shop with a Cop event that is coordinated by the Forest County Sheriff’s Office.

The program joins underprivileged children with law enforcement officers and first responders who help the children spend donated money on Christmas gifts, such as clothing and toys.

The children will be picked up at a designated location and taken to Walmart to shop with a $100 allowance.

The group will meet for dinner before returning.

The family of each child will receive a gift certificate to a local grocery store for their holiday meal.

The sheriff’s office was able to help 46 children from 38 families last year.

Donations can be mailed to the Forest County Sheriff’s Office at 526 Elm St., P.O. Box 9, Tionesta, 16353.

Donors should make a notation on their checks that the funds are for Shop with a Cop.
