Crisis service coming into Forest-Warren region

Forest County commissioners on Wednesday heard about the county’s Human Services Block Grant funds.

Ronna Tipton, director of Forest Warren Human Services, told the commissioners during her report on the block grants that her agency is bringing a crisis service into the region.

Tipton said Warren and Forest are among the six counties partnering to bring in the crisis service later this year.

“I feel like this service is lacking in our two counties. I’m excited to offer it,” Tipton said.

The crisis service would be mobile, and Tipton said that if an issue couldn’t be talked through and resolved by telephone, someone would be sent on site to help resolve the situation.

Those responding to a crisis would likely be coming to Forest County from Warren or Clarion, depending on which side of the county the issue was in, Tipton said.

She said that even though those responding wouldn’t be Forest County staff, they would be close enough to respond within an hour.

Tipton also told the commissioners at their meeting Wednesday that Warren County Human Services is overhauling Warren County housing such as drug and alcohol housing and transitional housing as well as the county’s shelter. Tipton said much of that housing is sitting vacant.

In other business Wednesday, it was noted the Forest County transportation garage in Marienville is finished except for installing a few outside lights and a vehicle lift.

Besides the vehicle lift, the garage will hold tools to service county vehicles, Commissioner Bob Snyder said.

The county will also be repairing the parking area of the district court office in Marienville as well as the courthouse drive and sheriff’s parking lot in Tionesta.

The county will bid out those projects.
