County GOP hosts ‘pizza and petitions’

From staff reports

Clarion County Republicans will hold a Pizza, Politics and Petitions event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Clarion Oaks Golf Club, party chair Rick Rathfon recently announced.

The event will give party primary election candidates and their surrogates’ time to gather and have petitions signed.

“This event presents an opportunity when petitions being circulated on behalf of various candidates are conveniently made available to others for the necessary collections of nominating signatures and the event takes on a celebratory atmosphere as all gather around the provided pizza and other treats,” said Rathfon.

Additionally, there will be a cash bar along with other refreshments such as coffee, tea and lemonade available at the gathering.

“The official kickoff for collecting names on the petitions begins on Jan. 28 this year, so we want to bring together candidates and their surrogates in a convenient venue to meet with the public at large who are interested in signing petitions supporting candidates,” Rathfon said. “This year is especially significant because elective positions to be filled from state representative range all the way up to the President of the United States, with a host of positions in between.”
