Coroner: New York man victim in fatal bridge crash

From staff reports

Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker has identified a man from New York state as the victim in the fatal multivehicle accident that occurred early Tuesday morning on the Emlenton Bridge, Interstate 80, in Richland Township.

Shingledecker said 35-year-old Joga Singh died from blunt force trauma as a result of the accident that involved 20 vehicles. Shingledecker on Wednesday did not have information as to which area of New York that Singh had resided.

A representative with Emlenton Area Ambulance Service on Tuesday told the newspaper that seven other people required emergency transport.

The emergency call came in at about 12:30 a.m., Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Chris Prosser told the newspaper on Tuesday.

The accident forced closure of the interstate, from Knox to the Emlenton exit at the truck plaza, in both the westbound and eastbound lanes. Traffic was rerouted through downtown Emlenton.

The accident remains under investigation by state police and assisted by multiple agencies, police said in a news release issued Tuesday.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at (814) 227-1710.
