Come Together Clarion will be held April 29

Clarion County residents and visitors will gather on Sixth Avenue in Clarion, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, for Come Together Clarion.

Organizers said the aim of the event is to celebrate friends, family, and community. Various organizations from the community and the university are joining together to build a day of activities, entertainment, awards and fun.

Throughout the day, participants will get to make their mark on the Come Together Clarion community quilt. There will be a 5K race, a coloring contest, activities, prizes, awards, and community advocacy tables. During the closing ceremony, various individuals will be recognized with the Neighborhood Star Awards.

The 5K for 5 Causes begins at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m. It benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarion, Forest and Venango counties; the Clarion County YMCA, the Clarion University Relay for Life, the Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Northwest Pennsylvania Rural AIDS Alliane. The DRIVE event will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. the Farmer’s National Bank parking lot on Sixth Avenue. Items being collected include food, eyeglasses, pet food and supplies, personal hygiene products, school and office supplies, kitchen and bathroom supplies, children’s clothes, kid’s craft items and children’s linens.

There will be limited street parking around the event on Main Street, Wood Street, and Sixth Avenue.
