Clarion University begins search for next president

CLARION – A search committee at Clarion University is beginning the process of selecting the university’s next president.

Former president Karen Whitney left the post in September to serve as interim chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

The search will be led by AGB Search, a Washington, D.C.-based firm specializing in higher education executive searches.

Consultant Garry Owens, who has previously worked with Clarion University, will guide the process. He will visit the campus Oct. 24 and 25 to meet with constituents.

The committee chair is Milissa Bauer, a member of the university’s board of trustees. Susanne Burns and Donna Oberlander, who are also trustees, are on the committee.

Other committee members include:

— Phil Frese, dean of the university’s College of Business and Information Sciences

— Faculty members Ray Feroz and Barry Sweet

— Non-instructional members Anita Lahr and Wendy Snodgrass

— Student Brianna Shepherd

— Alumna Jane France

— University constituents Len Cullo, Joseph Croskey and Brenda Dede

— Former president/chancellor, Michael Fiorentino Jr., Lock Haven University president

— Search coordinator, Ann Jamison, office of the president, and Kris Stiglitz, office of the president

— State System representative Kathleen Howley, deputy vice chancellor for academic and student affairs

— Board of Governors representative Donald Houser Jr.

Clarion’s next president is expected to take office in summer 2018.
