Clarion Summer Fest announces event lineup

Summer Fest will return to Clarion June 7 and 8, with this year’s theme of “The Big Outdoors”.

On June 7, a concert will take place from 5-8 p.m. at Mechanistic Brewing Co., and a planetarium show at 7 p.m. at the Donald Pierce Planetarium in Grunenwald Science Center.

June 8 will feature an 11.5-mile Point to Point Biking Time Trial. Check in is from 7:15-8:15 a.m. and the race will begin at 8:30 a.m., starting on Rail 66 at Farmington Township Park in Leeper. To register for the race, visit rail66tt.com.

The Hike the Loop event will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. There will be a volunteer at the trailhead to greet guests with a map for the 2-mile hike.

Kayaking will be from 9 a.m.-on Saturday. To pre-register, go to gopaddlepa.com/bigoutdoorfest.

Smaller events and attractions on Saturday include pop-up shops on Main Street, a silver dollar scavenger hunt at the Summer Fest Tent at Sixth and Main streets, fly fishing at Toby Bridge on the Clarion River, a KidZone at Sixth and Main streets, Camper’s Jamboree and a sidewalk book sale at the Clarion Free Library and a Chamber of Commerce vintage sale.

There also will be street musicians at various locations on Main Street from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and yoga in the park at 11 a.m. on West Main Street in Veteran’s Memorial Park. A concert and food truck will be at Mechanistic Brewing from 4-10 p.m., featuring The Garbarino Family Band.
