Clarion High School graduate to reign as queen at Laurel Festival

Dorothy Kalinowski, a 2019 graduate of Clarion Area High School, earned the crown of 2019 Brookville Laurel Festival queen on Saturday night at Brookville Area High School.

Joining Kalinowski on her court were first runner-up Madyson Montana, a 16 year-old student who attends North Clarion High School, and Madison Gill, a 16-year-old student at DuBois Central Catholic High School. Selected as Miss Congeniality was Regan Reitz, a senior at Brookville.

The new queen participated in Clarion Singers, and was president of both choir and Youth Council.

Kalinowksi, who has been a part of her school’s volleyball team since seventh grade, enjoys music and theater, and volunteers for the American Diabetes Association.

Her plans are to study nutrition and dietetics and then further her education by becoming a certified diabetes educator. Her goal is to teach other young people, like herself, how to live happy and healthy lives while living with juvenile diabetes.

Montana is a member of the National Honor Society, Junior Historians, Youth Council and choir. After high school, she aspires to become a court stenographer.

Gill participates in many activities such as basketball, cross-country, the school musical, school newspaper and National Honor Society. She plans to attend college and major in musical theater.

The new queen and her court will reign over all the Brookville Laurel Festival events.

The festival runs from June 15 to 23. For more information, check the Brookville Laurel Festival page on Facebook.
