Clarion County treasurer resigns

Clarion County Treasurer Tom McConnell announced his resignation Tuesday during a county commissioners work session.

McConnell said his last day in office will be Sept. 11. He has accepted the position of sales director at American Precast Industries in Clarion.

“Being treasurer of Clarion County has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” McConnell said. “I love my job and I really enjoy being able to serve the residents of Clarion County. I have so much gratitude toward them for electing me twice for this position,” he added.

McConnell was elected to serve a second term as treasurer in November. He will be replaced for the balance of the term by chief deputy treasurer Karyn Montana.

“I know that it will be a seamless transition and Karyn will do a wonderful job,” McConnell said.

American Precast will be located in the Glassworks Industrial Park, and McConnell said “this company has great things in store for our area and I am overjoyed to be able to be a part of that.”

He said he “was not actively looking for work, it was just an opportunity that I was blessed enough to receive.”

“We are going to miss him,” Commissioner Wayne Brosius said. “He has done some good things in that office. He has earned the county more interest by moving some money around in the accounts.”

Commissioners Ted Tharan and Ed Heasley also wished McConnell well and noted his achievements in the treasurer’s office.
