After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Clarion County will once again offer surplus items for sale.
The sale this year will include property and office equipment in addition to automobiles and vans.
The property offered for sale is the former Holobaugh Beer Distributor building on Route 322 west of Clarion.
The county purchased the property when it was considered to be a potential site for a new 9-1-1 center. The county paid $150,000 for the two properties, according to Commissioner Ed Heasley.
The county bought the former Sorce warehouse in Shippenville and is converting it into the new 9-1-1 dispatch center and Emergency Management Agency headquarters.
Many of the office items are from the Clarion County Courthouse, including chairs from the jury box and the witness chair from Courtroom One. The spectator benches are also being offered for sale.
The courtroom is being remodeled and new furnishings will be installed.
There are sliding doors and an overhead garage door that were removed when the county remodeled the new district attorney’s office. The kitchen cabinets from the house are also on sale.
An oddity is what appears to be an antique mauve-colored sofa with two matching chairs. Other unusual items are the electric signs that were used when the building was a beer distributor.
There are also desks, filing cabinets, computer racks, and a copier on the block as well.
All the items can be seen at the Holobaugh building on Route 322 west of Clarion. The items may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Sept. 13-17.
Tharan said sealed bids would be received at the county administration office. The bids will be opened at the commissioners’ regular meeting on Sept. 28.
The items offered for sale and the rules for the sale will be placed on the county’s website.
