Clarion County commissioners on Tuesday awarded liquid fuels grants to five municipalities.
The total award, based on the tax on gasoline and diesel fuel, was $51,024.
Beaver Township was awarded $10,000 for a seal coat project, Foxburg Borough will receive $5,757 for the Church Street seal coat project, Millcreek Township will get $15,000 for the Millcreek and Limestone Pa.-2a project, Salem Township will receive $14,510 for the Grace Church Road project, and Strattanville Borough will receive $5,757 for the Borough Street seal coat project.
Russell said residential assessment is complete in Limestone Township with the assessors now working in Millcreek, Highland and Paint townships. He said Redbank would be the next township to be assessed.
Russell said the assessment should be complete by Jan. 1, 2024.
County Veterans Affairs director Judy Zerbe announced her tentative retirement date of Jan. 12. She introduced her replacement, Rodney Sherman, the longtime editor of The Clarion News who has recently left that position.
The commissioners recognized Fred Anderson for his 30 years of service on the county planning commission. His departure creates a vacancy on that board.
The commissioners tabled a lease renewal for the New Bethlehem district judge office due to the recent death of the property owner. The renewal of flood insurance on that property was also tabled.
The commissioners will meet Dec. 27 and are expected to adopt the county’s 2023 budget at that time.
