Biologist to speak Wednesday

Seneca Rocks Audubon Society will sponsor a program featuring biologist David Yeany at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarion Free Library.  David Yeany, a Forest County native, is an applied ecology and conservation biologist with the Western PA Conservancy in Pittsburgh.  He will present a program titled “Forest Interior Bird Habitat Relationships and Disturbance Influences in the Pennsylvania Wilds.”  His study with the Natural Heritage Program on forest breeding birds will include species like the scarlet tanager, black-throated blue warbler and Swainson’s thrush.  The PA Wilds region has large tracts of forest that attract these species.  His presentation will describe the impact of cumulative disturbance in these forests and suggest ways to help manage the forest interior for birds, some of them designated as species of greatest conservation need.  The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the lower level of the library.
