Allegheny Forest personnel complete prescribed burn

Allegheny National Forest employee Kevin Wiltsie guards the perimeter of a prescribed burn Monday at Buzzard Swamp Wildlife Management Area near Marienville. Allegheny Forest fire crews successfully burned 54 acres in the management area. The goal of the planned burns is to improve habitat for wildlife species that like open warm season grass habitat, according to forest officials. The forest is planning a prescribed burn Thursday or Friday at Spring Creek if the weather permits.
