Strattanville sets clean-up day for May 22

From staff reports

Strattanville will conduct its annual “clean-up” day Saturday, May 22, and borough residents are encouraged to take advantage of the event as nuisance and junk ordinance enforcement will pick up after the day.

Beginning around 5:30 a.m. May 22, trucks from Tri-County Industries Inc. will make one trip along each street in the borough to collect trash and items which weekly garbage collectors do not pick up.

It is suggested all items for pick-up be placed curbside on Friday evening, May 21.

Nothing longer than five feet will be accepted with the exception of sofas, mattresses, and springs which can be broken down.

Paint cans with lids removed and with the paint dried will be accepted.

Items that will not be picked up include: Auto batteries, tires, construction materials, liquids, items containing Freon, rocks and stones, electronic (television sets, computers, monitors, etc.), and wet paint cans.

Dumpsters also will be located at the borough office parking lot the weekend of May 22-23 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 24, for use by borough residents.

No household garbage will be accepted and it should not be placed in the dumpsters.

As discussed at the April 14 Strattanville Council meeting, enforcement of the borough’s nuisance and junk ordinances will aggressively begin after the clean-up weekend opportunity.
