A rare sight

Nancy Walls, of Emlenton, snapped this photo in late May of a pair of cecropia moths that appeared at the home of Bill and Susan Gordon near Kahle Lake. The National Wildlife Federation’s website says male cecropia moths must have extraordinary senses. The site said,” a female moth produces chemicals called pheromones, which the male can detect from over a mile away.” It also said the moths have a wingspan of 5 to 7 inches and are the largest moths found in North America.
