Walk will help people get to know the woods, identify trees

From staff reports

As an effort to build appreciation for forests, the people who care for them and the importance of tending to them, the Penn State Extension is offering a program called “A Walk in the Woods.”

The walk is happening at the Forest County 4-H Center at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22. The 4-H center is located at 170 4-H Road, Tionesta.

The cost to participate is $5. Registration is available at www.extension.psu.edu or by calling toll-free at (877) 345-0691.

=During the walk, participants will learn the fundamentals of how the woods work, how to identify different tree species and their ID characteristics, and how forests develop and change over time.

More information is available by contacting Scott Weikert at the Penn State Extension office at (814) 755-3544 or sjw128@psu.edu.
