Veterans outreach set for Nov. 13

From staff reports

Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-63) reminds area veterans that they can take advantage of specialized assistance with a veterans outreach assistance specialist from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the American Legion in Clarion.

This service is staffed by Bradley Baranski and these hours are offered on the second Tuesday of each month.

“These assistance hours are a great way for veterans some of whom attended our Veterans’ Expo a couple weeks ago to follow up on services and programs they learned about there,” said Oberlander.

“This outreach provides personalized, one-on-one consultation with a specially trained officer, and I encourage any veteran or their loved ones to stop by.”

Some of the services available to veterans and their dependents include assistance with compensation, pension, death benefits, education and health care, as well as any issues pertaining to veterans’ benefits or the U.S. Veterans Administration.

Appointments are not necessary, and veterans do not need to be members of the American Legion to receive help.

“Our veterans, along with active-duty military members, have done so much to protect our freedom that this service is just one of the small ways we can thank these heroes and ensure their lives are just a bit easier,” Oberlander added.
