University Korner offers scholarship

From staff reports

In keeping with the company mantra of “Fueling the future and fueling the community,” The University Korner Cares, Inc., a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization, has established The University Korner Cares Scholarship for Clarion University students.

University Korner Chief Executive Officer Yasir Bhatti said the scholarship is another way to give back to the community. Through an ongoing campaign, the gas station and convenience store donates one cent from every gallon of gas sold at seven of its nine western Pennsylvania locations to support the YMCA, area fire departments, and community centers.

The University Korner Cares Scholarship is open to Clarion University business majors. Eligible students are from western Pennsylvania and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

“Our goal is to promote and encourage these young entrepreneurs to work hard, become future business owners, and follow their dreams,” Bhatti said.

Clarion University students can apply for this and other scholarships at www.clarion.edu/scholarships.

Last year, Clarion University Foundation, Inc., awarded 1,200 scholarships totaling $1.4 million to 853 students.
