Two local pharmacies will close

From staff reports

Two pharmacies operated by Clarion Development Corp. will be closing, according to a news release from Clarion Healthcare Systems.

Marianne Pharmacy, at 21159 Paint Boulevard in Paint Township, will remain open until Dec. 9; Health Complex Pharmacy, on Doctors Lane near Clarion Hospital, will remain open until Dec. 10, according to the release.

The CDC, the for-profit arm of CHS, said changes in the retail pharmacy business make it increasingly difficult to maintain a sustainable business.

“It is with mixed emotions and eternal gratitude for the patronage and loyalty of so many customers throughout the years that we make this announcement,” said Greg Rhoads, CDC board chairman.

The third pharmacy location managed by the CDC, Marienville Pharmacy, at 120 Cherry St. in Marienville, will remain open, according to the release.

Once the Marianne and Health Complex pharmacies close, all prescriptions will be transferred to CVS Pharmacy, at 639 Main St. in Clarion, according to the release.

All phone calls and faxes will be redirected to that location.

In addition to providing prescriptions, the release said, Marianne Pharmacy has been a UPS authorized service provider. Customers will be able to drop off UPS packages at the Clarion CVS.
