Toys for Tots event to feature military, rescue personnel

Area residents will have a chance to meet their local heroes on Dec. 4 at the state police barracks in Clarion while helping a holiday toy drive.

The event, benefiting the Clarion County Toys for Tots campaign, is a chance for community members to meet police and firefighters from various departments, paramedics, and members of the Marines and Army. The event begins at 2 p.m.

There also will be tours of various emergency personnel vehicles.

The event will include face-painting and other activities, along with a catered lunch. Santa will be there as well as Elsa and Anna, characters from Disney’s “Frozen.”

“There’s going to even be a helicopter,” said Misty Bracken, coordinator of Clarion County Toys for Tots. “It’s going to be a massive event.”

The Toys for Tots campaign will continue in Clarion County until Nov. 30. Toys should be new, in original packaging and should not exceed $30 in value. Toys for Tots is for ages birth through 12, and each child registered will receive five toys as well as stocking stuffers.

Toy donations are accepted at any time at the New Bethlehem Police Department or the state police barracks in Clarion.
