There’s just one contested countywide race in Clarion

There is only one contested countywide race in Clarion County on the May 19 primary election ballot.

That race is for the Republican nomination for treasurer as incumbent Karyn Montana is facing opposition from Kyle McConnell.

Shawn Zerfoss is unopposed in the Republican primary for sheriff. Incumbent sheriff Rex Munsee isn’t seeking re-election.

Incumbent coroner Dan Shingledecker is unopposed in the Republican primary for that post, and incumbent district judge Timothy Schill, who cross-filed on both ballots for that job, is also unopposed.

Here is a rundown of other races across the county on the primary ballot:

Boroughs

Clarion: Five Democrats are running for borough council. They are Pete Bauer, Krista Geelen, Kirk Jacobson, Rachel Roberts and Cassie Schwalm.

Jennifer Fulmer Vinson is seeking the Democratic nomination for mayor.

Republicans Benjamin Aaron, Keaton MacBeth and Lexis Twentier are candidates for council. Twentier is also the sole Republican candidate for mayor.

Carla Magrini is a Democratic candidate for tax collector.

Callensburg: There are no candidates on the ballot for any seats in Callensburg.

East Brady: Justin Wagner is a Democratic candidate for a four-year seat on borough council, and Republican Kevin Diehm is is seeking the Republican nomination for council.

Kina Fink is a candidate for the borough tax collector.

Foxburg: Denise Shekell is a Democratic candidate for a four-year seat on borough council.

Janie Ganor and Rebecca Gates are candidates for the Republican nomination for the four-year council seat. Terri Lease is a candidate for the two-year seat on council.

Hawthorn: Patti Hannah is a Democratic candidate for a four-year seat on council, Ronald F. Cyphert is a Democratic candidate for mayor, and Georgean Cyphert is the Democratic candidate for tax collector.

Terry Beamer is the Republican candidate for a four-year council seat, and and Emmanuel Marshall is the GOP candidate for the two-year council seat.

Knox: Danielle Fye is a Democratic candidate for council, and Melissa Wolfe is a Democratic candidate for mayor.

Donald Gutonski and William L. Henry III are the Republican candidates for the four-year council seat, Timmy L. Cochran is the Republican candidate for tax collector, and Richard Cochran and Michael Wise are GOP candidates for mayor.

New Bethlehem: Don Heeter, Lisa Kerle and Bryan Ruth are Republican candidates for a four-year seat on council, Gordon Barrows is a Republican candidate for mayor, and Julie Evans is a GOP candidate for tax collector.

There are no Democratic candidates on the ballot.

Rimersburg: Republican candidates for a four-year council seat are Jonathon Best, Mark Deeter, Joshua Meeker and Scott Myers. Jeff Kaetzel is a GOP candidate for a two-year seat. Timothy G. Yeaney is a GOP candidate for mayor, and Valerie Hile is a Republican candidate for tax collector.

There are no Democratic candidates on the ballot.

Shippenville: Linda H. Duffee is a Republican candidate for a four-year term on council, and Eric Sterner is a GOP candidate for mayor.

There are no Democratic candidates on the ballot.

Sligo: Sherry Laughlin and Charles W. Marsh are Republican candidates for a four-year seat on council.

There are no Democratic candidates on the ballot.

St. Petersburg: Thomas Courson is a Republican candidate for the four-year term on council.

Sue Ann Sheakley is a Democratic candidate for tax collector.

Strattanville: Donna Reinsel is a Democratic candidate for the four-year seat on council.

Republican candidates for the four-year seat on council are LeAnn Bowser, Dusty Davis and Robert “Bob” Rawson. Harold “Randy” Davis is a Republican candidate for mayor, and Patricia Lewis is a GOP candidate for tax collector.

School boards

Allegheny Clarion Valley: Region III (four-year term) – Kelly Terwilliger (cross filing as Republican and Democrat)

Clarion Area: Four-year term – Shane C. Kriebel, Julie McCormick, Zachary Shekell and Braxton White are all cross filing, and John P. Troese is running as a Democrat.

Clarion-Limestone: Region I (four-year term) – Hannah Allison and Gary Sproul are both cross filing, and Timothy Keighley is also running. Region II (four-year term) – Kathy Henry and David Louder are cross filing, and Christopher Boozer is also running. Region III ( four-year term) – Bryan Huwar is cross filing, and Roger G. Powell is running as a Republican.

Keystone: Region I (four-year term) – Stacey Thompson is cross filing. Region II (four year term) – Randy Barr II is cross filing. Region III (four-year term) – Tricia Dixon and John R. Slagle are running as Republicans.
