Tharan elected Clarion County commissioners chairman

Ted Tharan was elected 2021 chairman of the Clarion County commissioners during the panel’s reorganization meeting Monday.

Wayne Brosius, who was the chairman in 2020, was elected vice chairman. Ed Heasley was elected secretary of the panel.

In other business Monday, the commissioners set their schedule for meetings this year. The panel will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month with work sessions scheduled at 9:30 a.m. before the business meetings at 10 a.m.

Jillian Fisher was unanimously appointed as the chief clerk and county administrator. She had been appointed county administrator last year.

Christopher Gabriel of the law firm of Carfardi, Ferguson, Wyrick, Weis and Gabriel, LLC in Sewickley was named the county’s solicitor.

The county will use the following banks and institutions for deposits: S&T Bank, Clarion County Community Bank, Farmers National Bank, First United National Bank, Northwest Savings Bank, NC Bank, Clarion Federal Credit Union and PLGIT (PA Local Government Investment Trust).

The commissioners also assigned themselves to serve on various boards and committees.
