Tennessee man charged in Lucinda aggravated assault

A 29-year-old Bristol, Tenn., man faces charges of aggravated assault on a DuBois man which left the victim in a medically-induced coma.

Adam Matthew Kriner is charged with aggravated assault, a first degree felony; simple assault, a second degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense, at 6:55 p.m. Aug. 10 along Sunset Drive Knox Township.

Tpr. Evan J. Cyphert reports he was dispatched to 231 Sunset Drive for a reported assault in progress.

Upon arrival, the victim, Jason Confer, 24, was observed to be covered in blood with a towel wrapped around his head.

Confer had suffered a punch to the left side cheek and fell to the ground. Upon falling, Confer his head off the concrete sidewalk.

Through further investigation, it was determined Kriner went after the victim when he was standing and smoking a cigarette with his back turned.

Witnesses explained Kriner intentionally took a hop toward the victim and blindside punched him in the face with a closed fist.

Confer suffered a large gash to the right side forehead, causing substantial bleeding and a black and blue bruise below the right eye.

Several cuts were observed on the Confer’s arms.

Witnesses at the scene explained Kriner was retaliating against Confer for singeing his hair with a lighter.

Witnesses said Kriner waited approximately 20 minutes to retaliate. Kriner then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported via ambulance to St. Mary’s hospital and subsequently air lifted to Allegheny General Hospital for his injuries.

Police report Confer later was placed on life-support medical equipment and was placed into a medically-induced coma.

There has been no update on Confer’s condition.

Confer was cited for summary disorderly conduct and harassment for his role in the incident.

Kriner was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Aug. 27 at Clarion County Central Court.
