Tax sale draws dozens of bidders

Clarion County Tax Assessor Megan Kerr stands at the front of Courtroom I as men, women, farmers and speculators alike gathered for one of the largest judicial sales the county has seen in years. Of the 65 deeds up for auction, 38 were sold. Some sold for the minimum bid while others went into a bidding war. The highest sale was for the 1.5-acre lot in Clarion Township – what was the Clarion Bowling Arena – with a minimum bid of $1,075, the winning bid was $43,500.
