Strattanville man accused of assaulting woman in Franklin

From staff reports

A Strattanville man is facing charges for assaulting a woman Wednesday night at an Elk Street residence in Franklin.

Franklin police said they were called to a home at about 10:30 p.m. where a woman said Achior Oliver, 40, assaulted her following an argument.

The woman, who police spoke to at a neighbor’s house, said Oliver “threw” her into a stove in the kitchen twice so hard that she struck her head on the stove, causing her pain, police said.

The woman said Oliver continued to assault her by pushing her down and punching her in the face, and she said he threatened to kill her if she called police, according to a criminal complaint filed by police.

The complaint notes that the woman had a “fresh injury to her left eye” consistent with being punched.

The whole incident happened in front of five of the woman’s children who are 10 and under, the complaint said.

By the time police arrived at the house in the 300 block of Elk Street where the assault happened, Oilver, who was “highly intoxicated,” had fled on foot, the complaint said.

He was later found on River Drive and taken into custody, according to the complaint.

Oliver was charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person, and a summary count of public drunkenness.

He was arraigned Thursday and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
