Strattanville Homecoming brings the community together

A heavy rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of the annual Strattanville Homecoming.

The homecoming opened Friday night with walking tacos and sloppy Joes at SMI, Inc. in Strattanville and fireworks at dusk by Boomtown Fireworks.

Saturday California Creations presented the Evel Knievel Toy Show and the national championship for the jumpers. The event was moved into the truck bay of the Strattanville Volunteer Fire Company. Youngsters also had an opportunity to see how far they could make the mini-Evel Knievel jump.

The fire company’s popular barbecue chicken dinner was served in the social hall where a Chinese auction was also held. CNK Face Painting provided free face painting to kids and adults. The rain and mud didn’t stop the 30 Pack Assassins mini-bike races.

Threatening skies did limit the participation in the Night Cruisers car show on Sunday but did not hamper the craft and vendor show in the fire hall.
