Storms knock down trees, wires; some roads blocked

Storms ripped through Venango and Clarion counties Monday afternoon, causing several trees and some wires to fall and block some roads.

No one was injured as a result of 13 trees and one wire down in Venango County, according to the county’s 911 center.

Clarion County 911 reported six trees down, but no one was injured.

A few trees caused some road closures.

Venango County 911 said Route 227 in Cornplanter Township was closed at about 2:35 p.m. Cornplanter and Rouseville volunteer firefighters responded.

Clarion County 911 reported a road closure on Mealy Drive in Farmington Township at about 2:50 p.m., and the road reopened at about 4:05 p.m. Farmington volunteer firefighters responded, 911 said.

Clarion 911 reported another road closure on County Line Road in Washington Township at about 3 p.m. Monday, and the road reopened at 5 p.m. Washington Township volunteer firefighters responded.

There was another road closure on Blood Road in Jenks Township in Forest County at 3:30 p.m., and the road reopened at 4:15 p.m. Marienville volunteer firefighters responded.

And there was another road closed on Hollow Lane in Farmington Township at about 4:55 p.m. Monday.

Venango County 911 also reported Franklin Avenue in Franklin to be closed due to wires being down at about 2:35 p.m. Monday. No injuries were reported, and the road was still closed about an hour later.

And Venango County 911 also reported a tree falling as well as it being on fire on Enterprise Road in Oil Creek Township at about 3:10 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and the scene was cleared a short time later, 911 said. Pleasantville volunteer firefighters responded.
