St. Joseph noodles are a ‘to-go’ only this year

A team of volunteers joined together to continue a nearly century-old tradition of combining 300 pounds of flour and 135 dozen eggs into rows and rows of tables filled with homemade noodles in preparation for St. Joseph’s Annual 4th of July Celebration which is online only again for 2021. Instead of the dinner, dry noodles will be sold from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on July 4. The full-scale celebration is scheduled to return in 2022. Despite the circumstances, festival leaders will not let 80 years of tradition pass without a celebration, even if it is reduced. The committee is planning four large drawings as well as an online quilt auction and sale. Online prize tickets will be on sale until July 2 and can also be requested by phoning the parish office at (814) 226-7288 or by emailing stjoseph4thofjuly@gmail.com All drawings will be live-streamed at 1 p.m. on July 4.
