Oil City man facing trespass, assault charges

An Oil City man is facing charges for breaking down a woman’s door after she told him he wasn’t allowed inside and that he should leave the property.

Franklin police said in a criminal complaint that at about 8 p.m. Monday, Adam Rudolph, 38, went to a residence on Grant Street to drop off his daughter. The woman who lived in the house told Rudolph he wasn’t to enter the residence and was to leave the property, according to the complaint.

Rudolph refused, and when the woman told him she would call police, Rudolph slapped the phone out of her hand through the open doorway while she was on the phone with police, the complaint said. The woman was able to close and deadbolt the door, according to the complaint.

Rudolph then used his shoulder to break in the door and enter the house, severely damaging the door, lock and doorframe in the process while his 12-year-old daughter was nearby outside the house, the complaint said.

A loud verbal dispute broke out between the woman and Rudolph until he fled the scene, the complaint said.

The woman told police that on Sunday, Rudolph had started a verbal dispute with her in the parking lot of the Franklin YMCA which ended with him punching her vehicle and hitting her vehicle with the door of his vehicle, the complaint said.

She also showed police numerous messages Rudolph sent her telling her ahead of time that “something was going to happen,” according to the complaint.

Rudolph has been charged with two felony counts of criminal trespass-break into structure, misdemeanor counts of simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, stalking and criminal mischief-tamper with property, and a summary count of criminal trespass.

He was arraigned and placed in the Venango County jail with bail denied because he is considered a threat to the woman’s safety.

Rudolph’s preliminary hearing is scheduled March 31 in Central Court.
