Shapiro makes stop in Clarion

Josh Shapiro, the Democratic nominee for governor in next week’s election, and Austin Davis, the Democratic lieutenant governor nominee, were greeted by about 100 supporters Tuesday when they stopped at the Mechanistic Brewery in Clarion.

The stop came on the first day of Shapiro’s “Big Fights Bus Tour.” His day started in Erie, and after the Clarion visit he traveled to Beaver County before ending the day with a rally in Pittsburgh.

Shapiro, the state attorney general, discussed his plans to improve education in the state, crack down on crime and preserve women’s reproductive rights. He also said he wants to bring together Pennsylvanians of all parties.

Davis, a state representative who represents part of Allegheny County, said that if he is elected he would be the first Black lieutenant governor in Pennsylvania.

Republican candidate Doug Mastriano is opposing Shapiro in Tuesday’s election.
