Senior citizens can register for free food box program

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is offering a free food box program for residents age 60 and older in the 11-county area it serves, including Venango, Clarion and Forest counties.

Households that register must meet the following maximum monthly income criteria: one person, $1,354; two people, $1,832; three people, $2,311. For each additional person, add $479.

The program provides food once a month to supplement a recipient’s current grocery needs.

The monthly senior food boxes contain four cans of vegetables, two cans of fruit, one peanut butter or beans, two cereals or one bag of oats, two bottles of juice, 2 pounds of pasta or rice, one meat or fish, one block of cheese and two instant or evaporated milk (six times a year).
