Sandy lake man facing rape charge

A Sandy Lake man is facing numerous charges after he was accused of raping a woman at a bar in Jenks Township, Forest County, earlier this week.

Court documents show Kevin Charles McEwen, 33, was charged by Marienville state police with a felony count of aggravated assault, a felony count of rape-forcible compulsion and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, unlawful restraint and simple assault.

The incident took place between 11 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kelly Hotel in Marienville, police said.

McEwen was arraigned before district judge Todd Woodin and placed in the Warren County jail after failing to post $75,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled March 1 before district judge Daniel Miller.
