A Rimersburg man is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Robert Scott MacKinlay, 46, has been charged with statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault on a person less than 16 years of age.
Clarion state police trooper Katherine Berggren said in her affidavit of probable cause that on Dec. 10, 2017, she received a call from a state police communications operator to respond to Clarion Hospital to interview a female rape victim.
The emergency room staff told Berggren that the girl had disclosed the events of the early morning. The girl said she had been watching movies while sitting in a bed with MacKinlay and that she and MacKinlay had been drinking alcoholic beverages, including various wine coolers and shots of rum.
The girl said she fell asleep and when she awoke MacKinlay was inside her and she was unable to move her body immediately.
The affidavit said the girl consented to have a sexual assault examination performed. The girl authorized the release of the information, allowing Berggren to take custody of the evidence.
A search warrant was obtained to allow for the collection of DNA and two samples were analyzed, the affidavit said.
MacKinlay was arraigned Monday before District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller in New Bethlehem and taken to the Clarion County jail after failing to post $50,000 monetary bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 18 at Miller’s office.
