Redbank Valley Historical Society to honor Mogle

From staff reports

The Redbank Valley Historical Society will present a clock tower tour honoring the late John Mogle at 2 p.m. Saturday at the History Center, (the former New Bethlehem Bank), 301 Broad St.

Mogle was a former teacher, clockmaker, and woodworker who donated some of his clocks and art to the Historical Society. Those pieces will be on sale for a donation to the society.

The larger clocks will be for sale at a silent auction. The winners of the silent auction will be announced at 6 p.m. The open sale and silent auction will be held from 2 to 6 p.m.

At 4 p.m. renowned clock master Robert Rodgers will present a video tour of the clock tower of the former New Bethlehem Bank Building.

Rodgers will provide an overview of the mechanics and significance of the History Center’s Howard clock, and about his experience restoring and providing maintenance to towers across the country. He also has done work locally in Clarion, Jefferson, and Indiana counties.
