Random Acts of Kindness

West Forest schools observed Random Acts of Kindness Week during the week of Feb. 12 – Feb. 18, 2017. Random Acts of Kindness Week was designed as a way for organizations to promote positive behaviors and lift the spirits of its members. It takes place every year during the week of Valentine’s Day. Research has found that those who engage in Random Acts of Kindness have lower levels of stress, higher levels of job satisfaction and rate their levels of happiness higher when surveyed. At West Forest, students took the week to thank their classmates, teachers and staff members at the school, complete kindness challenges and learn about empathy and giving. The high school student council purchased carnations for each elementary student. High school students were given random prizes throughout the week for displaying random acts of kindness. The winners of the Kindness Challenge included Mrs. Brannon’s 2nd grade class, the 7th grade, 11th grade and Mr. Alex’s 12th grade classroom. (Submitted photos)
