Prayer vigil for refugees set

From staff reports

Millions of Ukrainians have fled the war in that country creating a refugee crisis in neighboring nations, but that is not the only refugee crisis in the world today.

Syrians are fleeing their war-torn country and thousands of people are crossing the southern border of the United States.

The need is great but the means to help these people is small.

The Constitutional Republicans of Western Pennsylvania (CRWPA) have scheduled a peace vigil for the lawn of the Jefferson County Courthouse at 2 p.m. April 24.

The non-denominational vigil is designed to bring people together to pray for the refugees in Ukraine, Syria, and the United States. A free-will offering will also be received. The proceeds will go to benefit refugees.

Music will be provided by Rebekka Askey.

“There have been a lot of people praying for the Ukrainian refugees since that nation was invaded,” said Randy Bartley, vice-president of the CRWPA. “The cameras are focused on Ukraine at the present time but the crisis continues around the world. There is power in prayer and we invite people of all faiths to join with us.”
