Pleasantville man flown to hospital after crash

A Pleasantville man was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie after a one-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Tionesta Township, Forest County.

Marienville state police said William C. Averill, 42, was driving a 2012 GMC Sierra on Route 36 south of Tionesta Dam when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and struck a rock embankment.

The impact caused disabling damage to the vehicle, police said.

Averill was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie, police said.

A passenger, Joshua M. Schmader, 39, of Pleasantville, was also injured in the crash, police said. He was transported to Titusville Hospital.

Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department, Tionesta Ambulance and Clarion Hospital EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
