Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in Titusville

From staff reports

A Titusville woman died early Wednesday evening after she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main and Monroe streets.

Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell identified the woman as Kathleen Phillis, 65. Schell also said the incident happened near Phillis’ home.

Titusville police captain Glenn Ciccarelli identified the driver of the vehicle that struck Phillis as Cecilia Wolfe, 67, also of Titusville. Ciccarelli said Wolfe was traveling west on Main Street in a Honda sedan when the car hit Phillis in the middle of a crosswalk.

Ciccarelli said it was dark and rainy when the incident took place and Wolfe couldn’t see Phillis in the roadway. He said Wolfe didn’t appear to have been speeding.

Phillis was taken to Titusville Area Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by Schell. The coroner ruled the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma.

Wolfe wasn’t hurt.
