New ambulance in hands of Forest County EMS

The Forest County EMS Authority, which covers the eastern portion of the county, has taken possession of the ambulance the county had purchased.

Forest County Commissioner Bob Snyder, during Wednesday’s commissioners meeting, said the contract was signed and all the documents are in order. However, the EMS authority is not yet running calls. He explained proposals are under review to find an organization to staff the ambulance.

The authority has reached out to Emergycare, Clarion Hospital Ambulance and perhaps other providers, Snyder said.

The county had ordered an ambulance for each side of the county.

The purchases were made with $219,300 in Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant funds the county received in November 2021. Grant requirements state the county must maintain ownership of the ambulances.

The county provided the required 50% match to the grant out of American Recovery Program money it received from the federal government.

The ambulances arrived this past spring.
