Modular, manufactured home builder Commodore Corp. sold

From staff reports

Cavco Industries has announced a $153 million acquisition of the Commodore Corp., the largest independent builder of modular and manufactured housing in the U.S.

Based in Indiana, the Commodore Corp. owns Commodore Homes of Pennsylvania and Colony Homes, both in Shippenville, and Pennwest Homes in Emlenton.

“During the acquisition process, we have developed a tremendous respect for what has been accomplished at Commodore under Barry Shein’s leadership,” Bill Boor, president and chief executive officer of Phoenix-based Cavco, said in a news release.

“We are extremely excited to work with the Commodore leadership and employees as we leverage best practices and technologies across the combined manufacturing network. Commodore’s market presence is a strategic extension of our current footprint, providing a platform for additional growth in the Northeast.”

The Commodore Corp. serves various markets across the eastern and central U.S.

Locally, Showcase Homes in Shippenville and Grandview Estates Mobile Homes in Venus sell Commodore and Colony homes.

Cavco Industries produces manufactured homes and is one of the largest builders of manufactured homes in the U.S. The company also builds park model RVs, vacation cabins, and systems-built commercial structures.
