Mis-use of portable toilets draws ire

The portable toilets at Toby Boat Launch are being used as dumping sites for garbage and if the abuse continues, the convenience stations could be removed.

Clarion Borough Council Member Rachel Roberts issued the warning at council’s Aug. 3 session.

Roberts said some people are using the portable toilets to dump garbage and other items they don’t want to take home.

Roberts said the garbage it difficult for maintenance crews to clean and pump out the facilities.

The borough pays the rental and maintenance fees for the portable toilets.

“They are a privilege,” Roberts said of the convenience stations. “If the (mis-use) continues, we’ll take them out of there.

“Please be respectful of the things we provide.”
