Marienville native promoted in Army

Beth Salisbury

A Marienville native received a military honor last month when she was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the United States Army.

Beth Salisbury became the first specialty officer to be promoted to brigadier general on June 30.

Salisbury is the daughter of Curtis and Suzanne (Wolbert) Carbaugh of Marienville. She is a 1986 graduate of East Forest High School.

Salisbury has served in the Army and Army Reserve for 31 years.

She is a distinguished military graduate of Millersville University Reserve Officer Training Corp.

Salisbury earned a bachelors degree in occupational therapy from Elizabethtown College, a masters degree in national security strategy from the American Military University and a masters degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.

She was commissioned regular army and served on active duty stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center and Reynolds Army Community Hospital. Salisbury then transferred to the Army Reserve.

Salisbury has been deployed four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield. She is currently assigned to the Third Medical Command Deployment Support Desert Medics as the deputy commanding general of operations in Fort Gillem, Georgia.

In her civilian capacity, Salisbury is the owner of Complete Therapy Care, Inc., providing on-site industrial rehabilitation services to various industries.

She has served in a variety of positions and won numerous awards and decorations.

Salisbury has been married to her husband, Rick Salisbury, for 24 years, and they have two boys, Rich, 22, and Cole, 21.
