LWV session focuses on online security

From staff reports

Are you concerned about cyber security, your privacy online, election security, and data protection laws? The League of Women Voters of Clarion County will provide an online Zoom meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

This meeting will cover an overview of data protection laws, election security, consumer protection, and cyber hygiene.

The main speaker, Shea Leitch, brings wide-ranging experience and proven skills to her privacy and data protection practice. She serves as a reliable counsel for clients in an array of industries, who seek her insight on everything from the development of enterprise-wide privacy and security compliance programs to targeted guidance on discrete data protection issues.

In addition to her counseling practice, Leitch advises businesses in various industries regarding detection, containment, investigation, notification, and regulatory follow-up arising from security incidents, including business email compromise, ransomware, network intrusions, and inadvertent disclosures.

She also provides guidance to companies regarding incident response planning, as well as security policies and procedures.

Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Leitch advised multinational organizations on the development and implementation of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance programs in the European Union.

During that time, she traveled to her clients’ European offices, working hand-in-hand with cross-functional business teams to develop appropriate GDPR policies, procedures, and documentation.

Drawing on this experience, she provides practical advice to clients on the adaptation of their global data protection programs to comply with rapidly evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

LWV membership is open to men and women of all ages. Please plan to join the LWV members for this informative program.

Individuals interested in attending please send an email to lwvcco@gmail.com before Nov. 16 and indicate your interest in the meeting. Those interested persons will be provided with a link to the meeting.
