Lucinda St. Joseph gears up for July 4th celebration

From staff reports

St. Joseph Parish in Lucinda will host its annual 4th of July celebration from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday on the parish grounds in Lucinda.

The festival, which is Clarion County’s oldest Independence Day event, has also scheduled two pre-festival kickoff events again this year. They are a 5K run/walk that starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Lucinda Train Station and a handmade quilt auction and sale that is taking place through Sunday.

Festivities scheduled Tuesday include all-you-can-eat chicken and ham dinners, games of skill and chance for all ages, a concessions stand, extensive Chinese auction and children’s features.

Entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature Clarion area band Gravel Lick, guitarist and Clarion native Jeremy Earnheardt, Clarion duo Jackson Danger and the Golden Boy, Zero to One of Wellsboro, solo fingerstyle guitarist Rob Gardner of Sigel, Sean Carey & The Transit Band of Oil City and country singer/songwriter Kaleb Beichner of Shippenville.

The celebration will be held rain or shine on the canopy-covered parish grounds.
