Local residents win contests at farm show

The Pennsylvania Farm Show opened last weekend with the annual unveiling of a large a very large butter sculpture.

HARRISBURG – Several Clarion County and Emlenton-area residents have earned ribbons in competitions at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show held last week in Harrisburg, including:

  • Samuel Anderson of Emlenton. One eighth-place in junior market goats.
  • John Anderson of Emlenton. One 11th-place in junior market goats.
  • Samantha Heller of Knox. One eighth-place in junior market goats.
  • Robert Schick of Knox. One eighth-place in junior market goats.
  • Garrett Schick of Knox. One second-place finish in family living contests.
  • Lydia Seaton of Emlenton. One first-place finish in family living contests.
  • Barbara S. Warden of Emlenton. One first-place, three second-place and one third-place finish in family living contests.
  • Dori Kralj of Emlenton. One first-place finish and two second-place finish in family living contests.
  • Oliva Drake of Emlenton. Six first-place, two second-place and one third-place finish in family living contests.
  • Lydia Sheatz of Knox. One second-place finish in family living contests.
  • Grace Barlett of Parker. One first-place finish in family living contests.
  • Emilee Klingler of Emlenton. Two first-place finishes in family living contests.
  • Abigail Feicht of St. Petersburg. One second-place finish in family living contests.
  • Emlenton Echoes 4-H Club. Two second-place finishes in family living contests.
  • Gretchen Krajl of Emlenton. One second-place finish in family living contests.
  • Jennifer Feicht of St. Petersburg. One second-place finish in family living contests.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, featuring 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibitors.

According to a report issued by the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau, the 2015 show had an estimated economic impact of $95 million to the south-central Pennsylvania region, supporting more than 18,000 jobs over the course of the week-long event.
