Local Halloween events set

The following Halloween parades, trick-or-treat times, and other Halloween activities have been announced by various boroughs, townships and organizations in Clarion County:

Clarion Borough Parade: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31; lineup at McDonalds and march to fire hall. Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Those wishing to participate should turn on porch lights.

Farmington Township Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Knox Borough Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Knox Township 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

New Bethlehem Borough Parade: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Redbank Valley High School. Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Paint Township Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Rimersburg Borough Parade: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25; line-up at 6 p.m. at Heeter’s parking lot and march to firehall. Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Salem Township Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Shippenville Borough Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Sligo Borough Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Those wishing to participate should turn on porch lights.

East Brady Borough Trick-or-treat: 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Fireman’s party will follow at 7 p.m. at the Community Center gym.

Strattanville Borough Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Treats will be given out at the fire hall as long as supplies last.

Washington Township Trick-or-treat: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Halloween activities and parties

Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will host a Greet and Treat Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Clarview campus in Sligo. All children are welcome to attend this free event. The event starts at Clarview Nursing Center and will end at Country Springs. This year’s themes are Jungle Book and Frozen.

Halloween parade

The Rimersburg Lions Club will hold their annual Halloween parade with lineup at 6 p.m. in front of Heeter Lumber Company, Main Street in Rimersburg.

The parade which includes the Union High School marching band steps off at 6:30 p.m. and will travel down Main Street to the Rimersburg Community Building where judging and awarding of prizes will take place according to Rimersburg Lion Roger Crick who is coordinating the event. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in the following categories:

Union band members

Floats

Groups (two or more people)

Prettiest

Ugliest or scariest

superheroes

Most creative (category for six years and under and also seven years and older)

All participants in the parade will receive a treat provided by the Rimersburg Lions Club.

In the past, more than 200 individuals, young and old, have participated in the parade.

Halloween party

The Clarion University of Pennsylvania’s Community Halloween Party is set from 1 to 3 p.m. for Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Gemmell Multi-Purpose Room.

Several student organizations will have tables with activities and crafts and of course, treats.

This event is free and open to the public.

Halloween parade

The 2018 Clarion Mall Halloween parade will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Clarion Mall.

Registration and line up for the event is from 11 a.m. to noon. Children will be judged in four costume categories, scariest, group, cutest and most original. Prizes will be awarded and treats will be distributed.

Trunk or treating will be held until 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 at this event.

This free event is sponsored by: Clarion Hospital, Clarion Mall, Carrier Insurance, Marianne Pharmacy, Medicine Shoppe, Trinity Point Church, Clarion Printing, Clarion Car Club and A.B.A.T.E.

Halloween party

The annual gathering of the Salem witches, goblins and ghosts will be during the annual Salem Community Halloween party from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Salem Community Building.

Goblins will be lurking around the games, while the mummies will be serving up delicious snacks.

After the costumed guests have been staged in the line-up area the distinguished judge will hand down the decision on which costumes will receive awards as they are voted on by the Venango’s Edge 4-H Club jury.

All ages will be included in the costume line-up.

Trunk or treat

New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church will have a trunk or treat between 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 which will coincide with Emlenton’s trick or treat night. Treat bags will be given out at 402 Walnut Street, the corner of Walnut and Prospect Streets in Emlenton. For more information, call (724) 867-0165.

Haunted dorms

Clarion University of Pennsylvania’s Student Honors Association will hold its annual haunted dorms from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 26 in Ballentine Hall. Light refreshments will be available. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to benefit Clarion Cancer Center.

Haunted house

Clarion University of Pennsylvania’s baseball and softball teams will hold their second annual haunted house from 7 to 11 p.m. on Oct. 25 through 27 in Givan Hall. Fee for this event is $10 for university students with id and $15 for the public. Proceeds benefit the baseball and softball programs.
