Knox Borough council Dec. 2 awarded a $194,100 bid to Current Waves of Slippery Rock for the installation of new generators at the borough’s water plant and two wells.

Current Waves was the lowest of four bidders for the upgrades. The project’s costs will be paid for through the borough’s water fund.

The project was put out for bid last month, with bid packets needing to be submitted to the borough by a Nov. 25 deadline.

The water plant’s portion of the project totals $136,400. Included in the plant upgrade is Well Three.

Well Seven, located in Beaver Township, totals $57,700 in costs.

In addition, the borough received bids for Well Eight, also located in Beaver Township. Council chose to table a decision on a Well Eight bid, the lowest of which totaled $84,400.

During an Oct. 7 session, EADS Group engineer Marty English told council plans included the replacement of the cabinet for electrical equipment found at Well Eight.

The other three bidders for the upgrades to the plant and Well Seven were Westmoreland Electric ($229,200), Wagner Electric ($245,158), and HRI Inc. ($283,569).

The totality of the work to the plant’s electrical services is expected to last just under a few hours and take place next year, according to English during council’s October meeting.
