Keystone robotics finds success in DuBois

From staff reports

The Keystone elementary robotics team had another day of success Jan. 25 at a VEX Robotics competition held at DuBois Middle School.

Seth Slaugenhaupt and Brady Dunlap finished first in the teamwork drive while Jacob Henry, Sean Karg, and John Paul Johnson finished second.

Josh Kline and Kord Stewart finished first in the skills competition with a score of 82 points.

Keystone students finished first, second and third in the skills competition.

The excellence award for robotics went to Braden Baylor and Jorge Reyes.

These are very high honors for a robotics tournament.

Overall, Keystone had seven teams in the top 10 and qualified nine of 16 for the finals.

The students were commended for their effort and sportsmanship.

VEX competitions bring STEM skills to life by tasking teams of students with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge.

Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more.

Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.
