Jefferson Historical Society dinner set Oct. 21

The Jefferson County Historical Society will hold its annual dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Pinecrest Country Club on Route 322 west of Brookville.

The guest speaker will be Paul Michael Beck, the author of a new book on Brookville’s pioneer aviator Lewis Earle Sandt.

Sandt is recognized as the first American to make an international flight when he crossed Lake Erie to Canada. Sandt was also the first person to fly over Pittsburgh.

The evening’s activities will include a social hour at 5:30 p.m., dinner, a silent auction, a brief business session, the presentation of awards and the election of officers.
