IUP student abducted, robbed by duo

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — One man is jailed and another sought for the robbery and kidnapping of a Pennsylvania university student from an off-campus apartment.

Police say the Indiana University of Pennsylvania student was abducted at gunpoint about 2 a.m. Thursday about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. That happened after the suspects — a friend of the victim’s friend — visited the apartment Wednesday night.

Indiana borough police have charged 20-year-old Jamanji Beasley and 19-year-old Adrian Thrower with robbing and abducting the student, who isn’t being named, after their mutual friend left.

Police in Erie arrested Thrower early Sunday and found the student’s car. Police were still searching for Beasley on Tuesday. Both suspects are from Erie.

Police say the suspects kept the students in custody for most of the day Thursday after driving to Erie.

Thrower doesn’t have an attorney.
